Itinerary description
Bike ride from National Road (A5) intersection for Agrinio via:
- Agrinio city
- Trichonida lake
- Rio-Antirio brigde
back to Patra.
First section through Agrinio and next to Trichonida lake done on fairly major roads with dense traffic. Not the greatest place to ride, specially in rush hours. But as soon as I got off the main roads (Zeygaraki village around 30th kilometer), there was literally zero traffic and great views! Nice climb in local protected forest area via Ano Kerasovo village all the way up to 820m altitude.
From there an impossible fun descent of continuous 17km to Evinochori (meeting again the new national road A5).
Next 25km to the Rio-Antirio bridge are of moderate difficulty and fairly OK roads. In the past it used to be very dangerous section with loads of traffic, but since new A5 is open, the old road is cycling-friendly :-D
Trough the bridge and back to Patra on well known roads in typical city traffic - nothing fancy.
The whole ride is really worth for the mountain section in Ano Kerasovo, with the best views, roads and nature.
