Itinerary description
The Border to Border (or from Russian border to Swedish Border) is a slightly over 400km crossing of Finnish Lapland on cross country skis.

It´s an enjoyable experience if what you want is to ski, eat and sleep. Those 3 activities you will do aplenty. Nature will be relaxing and quiet, and you may get to see the Aurora Borealis during the night if the sky is clear.
It is more a journey than a race. Times are not taken. You are free to do half days if you wish (the GPX files below are the whole course that they allowed us to ski in 2018, a small bit was taken off the Russian border and also between the last and penultimate day)
Below are the 7 GPX files for the tracks of the 2018 Rajalta Rajalle 2 (2 being the 2nd batch of skiers that left, normally arranged in 4 start days so that acommodation bottlenecks can be sorted).
Key recommendations
1) bring 2 pairs of skis (wax and skin are probably ideal combination)
2) adapt the ski baskets to make them wider as you will be most of the time on fresh snow groomed with a scooter
3) for the reason above, maybe add an inch or 3 cm extra to your normal pole
4) have your heart properly checked before leaving, to complete it all its reasonably strenuous
5) don´t forget to take pictures
