Itinerary description
From the car park, over the small bridge between the derelict buildings, keep to the left at the junction and stay on the pathway, through a metal gate and you can't miss the cave on your right.
The cave has a large entrance which leads down to the first large chamber some 30m x 8m
A small chamber to the left entered by a slight decline but goes no further.
There are two other channels, one of which was blocked when we visited.
The second requires a helmet and a squeeze through the channel for some 17 meters before entering a second large chamber.
We did not venture any further, but I have been informed that the second chamber has has another 13 meter sinkhole to another chamber, the floor of which is covered with stones and boulders from previous roof falls.
Here the interior unfortunately has been damaged and vandalised.
Not for the casual walker to descend. Torch, helmet, strong clothing and decent boots required.
The total length of the cave has been estimated as over 100 meters
