Itinerary description
Whenever you may visit the Orkney Islands, a visit to the Ring of Brodgar is a must.
You need to google the Ring of Brodgar to fully appreciate its significance. It is estimated that it was constructed around 2700 BC. It is a certain type of henge, similar to the more accessible and therefore better known Stonehenge.
On the same island is Skara Brae, reputedly the best preserved of the early settlements of Europe. of course one should visit Skara Brae, too, but the Ring of Brodgar is certainly more awe-inspiring.
Your are likely to begin your trip in Kirkwall, the main city of the Orkney Islands. The tour can also easily be done with a bike
