Itinerary description
A route by car or motorcycle around the island departing from the very beautiful Skopelos Town. You’ll discover a very green island, covered by pines (seraphicpine, according to https://skopelos.gr/en/beaches/blo/) specially the continent-oriented western coast.
Old town Skopelos is the most authentic and traditional capital of the three northern Sporades and was declared as such in 1978 thanks to its architecture.
From there you’ll go southbound to Stafilos Beach (recommended) and Velanio Beach (united with a path).
The next stop is the unique and unforgetable Cape Amarantos (very very recommended). To reach there you’ll probably want to step down from your vehicle and walk the last mile or two due to the the poor condition of the pavement. The place is the typical Mediterranean spot of blue and green. No to be missed.
A not obligatory stop on the road towards Cape Amarantos is Drakontóschisma.
You’ll sure want to stay for a while in Cape Amarantos. After that you’ll continue through Agnodas and Panormos without stopping there and you'll be following the scenic route until Glossa throughout the island’s lush pine forests along the coastline.
Obligatory stops at Kastani Beach and Milia Beach, both of them with views to Skiathos, the Volos Gulf, Eubea and a small green islet just in front of them.
Don’t be surprised to hear cicadas or to see butterflies in those beaches. They're a nice company.
Just before these two beaches there is the secluded natural port of Mplo (or Blo) beside the Panormos beach.
Once you’re in Glossa you can end the journey going until the Agios Ioannis Kastri church. The road is nice but it's a cul-de-sac so you'll have to redo it.
