Independent proposal to promote hiking, mountaineering, tourism and different outdoor activities around the planet...

This tour is really fantastic, the long transfers were done by car and the short sections were done on foot, we will start with the Patan area and some history…
Patán the oldest jewel in the Kathmandu Valley. Patan is located about 8 km south of Kathmandu, this beautiful place is a must in your visit to Nepal, it will take you a morning or a day if you are more entertained but it is not as big as Bhaktapur, the city of devotees. What if it is also quiet, there is not as much noise as Kathmandu. Patan is the oldest of the three jewels of the valley. It is considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco. There are at least 1,200 temples in Patan.
Patan is known by its Sanskrit name Lalitpur, as the metropolitan city of Lalitpur, the city of beauty. His Newari name is Yala. They also call it the city of golden roofs. Patan was founded in the middle of the 3rd century. It currently has a population of about 225,000 inhabitants.
Durbar Square
Patan is the one that has a fairly marked influence from Buddhist culture. Emperor Ashoka was the one who brought it around the year 250 BC. The city is marked by 4 stupas. One at each corner, north south and east and west of Durbar Square.
The construction boom dates from the reign of the Malla dynasty, from the 16th to the 18th century. In Patan you will find the cultural mix of Hinduism, Buddhism and Newar architecture with red bricks and wood and carved stone, steeped in these interesting cultures.
What to see in Patan Durbar Square, temples and beautiful views, carved wooden columns in the Royal Palace, the entrance will cost you 500 rupees. In Patan everything is concentrated in the Durbar Square area. The oldest royal palace in Nepal is located next to this beautiful square. It was built before the palaces in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. In it there are 3 temples dedicated to the goddess Taleju. She is the main goddess of the valley. The sun dhoka or golden gate with engravings of Hindu gods, leads you to the Patan museum. This museum houses one of the best collections of religious art in Asia.
Some of the temples in Patan.
Patan Krishna Mandir
In the royal palace, there is the Sundari chowk. It is a stone fountain dug into the ground. It was used as a bath for kings. It is carved in stone with Hindu mythology.
The Khrisna mandir temple was one of the first to be built in Nepal. In the year 1637, King Siddhinar Singh had it built. It is a work carved in stone like the design of the stone temples in India.
The Mahaboudha temple is known as the temple of the thousand Buddhas, you can see it in every brick of the tower.
The Taleju bell was ordered to be built by King Vishnu Malla in the year 1736.
Mahavihar Varna Temple,
Known as the golden temple, it hosts a Newar Buddhist festival every 4 years, attended by lamas, artists, farmers, musicians and apparently quite a public. In this festival the Dharma Dann, the art of giving and sharing, is practiced. The story tells that the son of King Bhaskar, was a poor king and kept piles of dung in his warehouse, telling the people of the town that he kept treasures there. It seems that he was poor because he was generous with his people. Then his faith was so great that one day he went to his warehouse and all the dung had turned into gold. So, he decided to share it with the people of his village and from that day the Samyak Mahadan festival is celebrated.
In this festival, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas like Tara and Chenrezig are displayed. They put offerings of food and money. Dipankara Buddha is especially honored.
bhimsen temple
Dedicated to the God of commerce and business. In this three-story temple you will see that it is always full of offerings and clean to have prosperity. In front of this temple is the Manga Hiti, a pond in the shape of a cross.
vishwanath temple
Patan Vishwanat Temple
This temple is dedicated to Shiva, it is situated to the south of the Bhimsen temple. The construction dates from the year 1627. It is a pagoda with 2 levels. In the bricks you can see Ganesh carved in the stone and it has a statue of Shiva. On the steps there are two elephants stepping on a man. See if the door is open and you will see the Shiva lingam.
Jagannarayan Temple
This 2-tiered pagoda known as Char Narayan, is dedicated to Vishnu as the creator of the universe. This is the oldest, dating from the year 1565. Look towards the wood of the ceiling and you will see the erotic figures carved, Kamasutra.
kumbeshwar temple
This temple located in the northern part of Durbar, is one of those with 5 floors and two ponds. The story goes that the water is from Gosainkunda Lake in Helambu, Langtang Valley. It is a sacred lake for Hinduists. They say that if you bathe in that water it is like having gone to Gosainkunda on a pilgrimage.
Then we went to visit the Monkey Temple, It is also known as the monkey temple, since there are monkeys living in holy parts of the temple in the north-west. The Tibetan name for the site means "Sublime Trees" (Wylie: Phags.pa Shing.kun), after the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, Shing.kun may be a corruption of the local Newari name for the complex, Singgu, which means "self-born". For Newar Buddhists in whose mythological history and origin myth, as well as day-to-day religious practice, Swayambhunath occupies a central position, which is probably the holiest among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, only Boudhanath is in second place.
The Swayambhunath complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines and temples, some dating back to the Licchavi period. A Tibetan monastery, museum and library are more recent additions. The stupa has the eyes of the Buddha and painted eyebrows. Among them, there is something that looks like a nose paint (but it is Nepal's symbol of "unity", in the main dialect of the Nepali language). There are also shops, restaurants and hostels. The site has two access points: a long stairway, which has 365 steps, leading directly to the main platform of the temple, which is from the top of the hill to the east, and a carriage road around the hill leading south. to the southwest entrance. The first view when you reach the top of the stairs.
Much of Swayambhunath's iconography comes from the Vajrayana tradition of Newar Buddhism. However, the complex is also an important site for Buddhists of many schools, and is also revered by Hindus.
