Itinerary description
I arrived at Spring Creek Campground in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest after dark. I slept across the back seat of my truck, like I had for most of my journey along the Oregon National Historic Trail. In the morning, surrounded by pines on a hill with a gentle slope, I realized that the trees blocked my view of the mountains all around me. To get a picture that matched the screenshot of the Blue Mountains in The Oregon Trail video game, I had to ascend to a clearing.
Sure enough, the mountains were blue.
