Itinerary description
The first Fort Boise was built in 1834 by Thomas McKay as a trading post for the Hudson’s Bay Company. The walls of the original, shown in the color drawing dated 29 August 1849, retrieved from the report of Major Osborne Cross to the Quarter Master General, have a textured surface. This does not match the presentation of Fort Boise in The Oregon Trail video game. However, the recreation of the structure at Old Fort Boise Park in the city of Parma, ID appears to reflect the design of the original.
