Waypoints
Michael and Mary line.
The two energy lines cross in this church which is built next to a burial mound or barrow. It has evidence of Bronze Age, Anglo-Saxon and medieval burials. The area is believed to have been a pagan site that was later Christianised. The church dates from 12th Century.
Mary Michael line
Whitehorse Hill. Accessed from NT car park, the Mary line surrounds it.
Michael and Mary Line
Accessible from the same National Trust car park , follow the Ridgeway on foot for 1.5 miles.
Michael and Mary line
Although not directly on the line, Waylands Smiddy is a Neolithic burial site with the Mary line not far away. Worth the detour.
Michael and Mary line
It is believed that Wayland’s Smiddy ( named for the Anglo Saxon God of blacksmiths) was a place of ceremony connecting the living and the dead. Whatever it was - it’s atmospheric!
