This track takes you to several of the beautiful lagoons south of San Pedro de Atacama. It is the same route followed by many tour groups. If you have your own car you can do it yourself and avoid the crowds. The tours all seem to leave SPA at 9 AM, so leave an hour earlier or later and you will be by yourself. I forgot to turn on my GPS until we got to The town of Toconao buy you can find your way there from SPA with any map.
Stop on the way down at onof the simple restaurants along the road as you pass through the town of Sociare and order comida. You don't have a choice of what they feed you but you will be satisfied with the local potatoes, chicken stew and fresh fruit.
The Laguna we visited were: Miscanti, Minhiques, Piedras Rocas/Aguas Calientes, and Tuyajto.
