Interesting car tour to visit several tourist attractions in Slovenia.
First we visited the interesting but hypertensive Cuevas de Postojna. They are immense and very rich in galleries with great profusion of Karstic formations. The visit is made in several sections because they are so large that both the access and the exit is done in little trains until you reach the area with more "substance". Although they are very busy, the visit is well worth it and it is quite enjoyable. Inside them lives the "Proteus", a mixed creature of many others, which can be seen at the exit in a small museum.
The second stop of the tour by car is to visit the impressive Skocjan Caves, within the homonymous Regional Park, declared a World Heritage Site. The Reka River makes an incredible underground journey, with real gorges under the surface of the limestone surface that is difficult to describe with words. They are a tourist attraction of the first order so the visit is quite crowded but it is definitely worth it because they are incomparable. Unfortunately it is forbidden to take pictures inside the great grotto, in which you feel like an explorer accessing the center of the earth!
Then we visit the interesting fortified church of Hrastovlje, with its famous fresco of the Dance of Death (unfortunately you can not take photos inside this Romanesque church). The visit is very curious because the manager puts a tape explaining all the details in your language.
The last stop is in the beautiful and busy villa on the coast of Piran, with a very well preserved Venetian-style urban center.
We made the mistake of not buying the vignette to use the Slovenian highways and it was our turn (especially in the area near Piran) to go through minor roads, through villages and sometimes badly indicated. It's not worth it, it's much better to buy the vignette.
