Itinerary description
On this journey we visited some quite old and new churches and monasteries.
We started from the convent of St Thekla the Healer near Mosfiloti village. The convent is said to be built near IV cent AD after the visit of St Helen to the island at the place where she found a spring.
The convent still has this sacred spring and the healing mud near it.
The 2nd stop was a church dedicated to St Peter and Paul. The church was built about XII cent. You can still see the remains of old frescoes.
Then we visited the Monastery of St Herakleidios. The place with unbelievable heritage which dates back as early as I cent and IV cent AD.
The next one was newly built Church of all Russian Saints. Fantastic paintings and stained class inside. The neighboring church was Romanian Orthodox wooden church which was shipped directly from Romania.
At the end we visited rock carved Chrysospiliotissa church.
