Itinerary description
Left Astrakhan at 9.30am heading for the border to be turned back at a closed bridge over the Volga, so an hour later we were back at our hotel. A new route found and away to the border for about 11.15am. Through both sides by 1.30pm after a kindly Kazak pilot helped us though, sorted our insurance, and told us to avoid the border stop trap set by the police. Now 2.30pm as we've put the clocks forward another hour. Headed for Atyrau on truly awful roads for the first 50km, getting gradually better until they were just poor by the time we reached Atyrau at 8.00pm.
