Follow the dirt road, then the path parallel to the Ribeira do Seixal. After about 25 minutes, cross the stream to the left bank and climb a trail with many wooden steps (Vereda do Lombo do Barbinhas) (32.788995, -17.115260) until you reach the Levada do Seixal. Follow the levada to the right, cross the beginning of the Hortelã Inferior route and enter the canyon after crossing a tunnel of more than 400 metres.
