Itinerary description
The route follows our classic Nuy River Gorge Kloofing trip. From Simonskloof reception following the Jeep track for 3km to Hummel baume turn off. Tracking started from here only. After crossing the dry Simonskloof stream it ascends steeply to Himmel Baume, a 50 year old abandoned pear orchard, then follow the dry river bed NW direction until it falls into the gorge. Here a 60m rope and abseil gear is required to descend safely. Another 2 - 3 abseils follow to reach the Nuy River. At the river head SE and after a couple of swims you arrive at the rock dam with a bivouac site below the West wall.
