Itinerary description

Sixty metre rope will allow a retrievable abseil at Denham Falls. Difficult walk down the creek with huge boulders to clamber over (slippery when wet). Drop into water at Lip Falls, Cavern Falls, Rainbow Falls and Double Falls. Cascade Falls is not an abseil.

Hi Colin, just wondering if there is a way around the abseil to get to the bottom of the falls?

Unfortunately, not any longer. There is a track that goes along above the creek to Lip Falls and then you can rock hop up to the base of Denham Falls. This track has been closed by the owner of the property over which the track goes. Considerable efforts have been and are still being made to purchase this tiny bit of land so that the track can be reopened. The track, which has now fallen into disrepair, goes all the way down to Double Falls. So there are five spectacular falls, Denham, Lip, Cavern, Rainbow and Double. I have it on good authority that the canyoneers are ignoring the closed signs to go down Back Creek to abseil all of the falls to Double Falls and then walk out via the track.
I have not done it since the track was closed.
