Amber Fort is a palatial complex located in Amber, 11 km from Jaipur, in the state of Rayastán (India), it was originally built by the Meenas, who consecrated the city to Amba, the Mother Goddess whom they knew as “Gatta Rani ”or“ Queen of the Past ”[Tod. II.282]. Built on the remains of an earlier structure, the palace complex that remains today was started during the reign of Rash ('king') Man Singh, commander-in-chief of the Akbar army and member of the inner circle of the '9 courtiers' , in 1592. Amber underwent modifications under successive leaders in the following 150 years, until the kachwahas moved their capital to Jaipur during the time of Jai Singh II.

The building that is currently known as Amber Fort was initially a palatial complex within the original Amber Fort that is now known as Jaigarh Fort. Connected to Amber through fortified passages, Jaigarh Fort is located on a hill above the Amber complex, and is built from red sandstone and white marble. Overlooking Lake Maotha, it is reputed to have been the treasure of the Kacchwaha leadership. Today, tourists can climb the fort from the base of the hill on an elephant. During the walk, you can admire the beautiful views of Jaipur, Lake Maotha and the original city wall.
Once you have reached the palace, you can visit the fort on a guided tour or do it yourself. The hall of mirrors is remarkable: when royalty lived in this place, at night, when they needed to pass through this room, they took a single candle, and thanks to the intricate design of small mirrors, the whole room was illuminated.
