Si no voleu caminar des de Vik podeu anar fins al pàrquing que hi ha a la platja de 63°24'16.1"N 19°02'42.6"W. Arribem al pàrquing de Reynisfjara seguint un trencall perfectament senyalitzat al llarg de la carretera 1, carretera principal del país. Aquí deixarem l’autocaravanai començarem un agradable passeig d'un quilòmetre i mig, ideal per gaudir del mar i del simpàtic frailecillo
Just al costat del pàrquing hi ha un petit camí que baixa fins al mar on trobarem una petita cala que s'hi pot accedir sempre que hi hagi baixamar. Com és lògic, ni aquesta platja ni les següents que visitarem són llocs per banyar-se, ja que la temperatura de l'oceà Atlàntic en aquesta zona és molt baixa. Es tracta d'un entorn declarat Reserva Natural Ornitológica, on durant la primavera i l'estiu crien els frailecillos i nombroses La península de Reynisfjall és un faralló rocós que s'interna al mar i creant un cap espectacular. Amb les dues platges de sorra negra als costats, la platja de Vik i la de Reynisfjöru/Reynisfjara forma un dels paisatges més fotogènics del sud d'Islàndia. Al final dels penya-segats de Reynisfjall, el vulcanisme va crear les columnes basàltiques que surten en tantes pel·lícules i anuncis de televisió.
La cova Hálsanefshellir és excepcional a causa dels pilars octogonals de basalt a l'entrada de la cova. Les columnes verticals són força semblants a la cova de Fingal a l'illa de Staffa. I la platja del davant és la famosa platja negra de Reynisfjara, que consta del basalt negre erosionat. De fet, hi ha dues coves marines a la platja que semblen bastant semblants. As is logical, neither this beach nor the next ones that we will visit are bathing resorts, since the temperature of the Atlantic Ocean in this area is very low. It is part of an environment declared a Natural Ornithological Reserve, during spring and summer puffins and nombres breed. The Reynisfjall peninsula is a rocky outcrop that flows into the sea and creates a spectacular cap. With two black sorra beaches on the coast, the Vik beach and the Reynisfjöru/Reynisfjara beach form one of the most photogenic landscapes in southern Iceland. At the end of the Reynisfjall penya-segats, vulcanism will create the basalt columns that are the source of many movies and television commercials.
