La ruta ornitológica discurre por parajes de singular belleza en la vertiente sur de la Sierra de San Pedro, por los municipios de Alburquerque y Villar del Rey. El itinerario dibuja un triángulo entre las carreteras EX214 (Alburquerque -Villar del Rey), la Ex 325 (Villar del Rey-Aliseda) y la EX303 (Aliseda- Alburquerque), que se adentra en lugares altamente representativos de la comarca y ofrece la posibilidad de observar las aves más emblemáticas. Se propone empezar y terminar en Alburquerque.

The Birdwatching Route will take in outstandingly beautiful stops on the southern slopes of the Sierra de San Pedro, through the municipalities of Alburquerque and Villar del Rey. The itinerary forms a triangle between the EX-214 road (Alburquerque-Villar del Rey), the EX-325 (Villar del Rey-Aliseda) and the EX-303 (Aliseda-Alburquerque), including places which are highly representative of the district and offering the possibility to see the most emblematic birds. It starts and finishes in Alburquerque.

Rotonda. Coger dirección Villar del Rey por la EX214. Roundabout. Take the EX214 towards Villar del Rey.

Los Galvanitos. Entrada de camino a la derecha. Aparcar y otear. Los Galvanitos. Entrance of a track at the right. Park and scan the area.

Camino a la derecha. Muladar/comedero de buitres de Campo Espada, actualmente en desuso. Dirt road to the right. Vulture feeding station of Campo de Espada, currently in disuse.

Pista asfaltada a la izquierda. Acceso a la Presa de Peña de Águila. Metalled road to the left. Access to the Dam of the Peña de Águila reservoir.

Miradores y merendero de la Presa de Peña de Águila. Aparcar, caminar, otear. Viewpoints and picnic area of the Peña de Águila Dam. Park, walk around and scan the area.

Cruce con la carretera EX325. Continuamos a la izquierda en dirección Aliseda. Crossroad with the EX325 road. Turn left towards Aliseda.

Camino Finca de Azagala. Parada suprimida por problemas de acceso. Track to "Finca de Azagala". This stop has been cancelled due to acess problems.

Ribera de Sansustre y paraje del Saltillo. Aparcar en el camino a la derecha, cruzar la carretera y caminar a favor de corriente a la orilla de la ribera. Sansustre river El Saltillo area. Park next to the track on the right, cross the road and make a walk downstream the river.

Cruce con la EX303. Girar a la izquierda en dirección a Alburquerque. Crossroad with the EX303. Turn left towards Alburquerque.

14 Mirador - Viewpoint

Mirador Dehesa de Las Liebres Aparcar, subir al mirador y otear. Viewpoint of Dehesa de las Liebres. Park, climb up the viewpoint and scan the area.

Cordel de San Vicente de Alcántara, Camino del Albarragena. Camino a la derecha. Aparcar y andar. A 2,5 Km. se encuentra el puente medieval de Las Arenosas. Cordel de San Vicente de Alcántara, Camino del Albarragena river. Dirt track to the right. Park and make a walk. At 2.5 km there is the medieval bridge of Las Arenosas.

Entrada de camino en zona abierta (derecha). Aparcar, caminar y otear. Entrance of a dirt track on the right in an open area. Park, walk and scan the area.

Cruce con la EX302. Girar a la izquierda en dirección Alburquerque. Intersection with the EX302. Turn left towards Alburquerque.

Cruce con la EX110. Giramos a la izquierda en dirección Badajoz. Intersection with the EX110. Turn to the left towards Badajoz.

Tras pasar la Gasolinera, giramos a la izquierda para adentrarnos en el casco urbano de Alburqurque. Luego seguimos las indicaciones al Castillo. After passing the petrol station, we turn left towards the town centre. Then we follow the indications to the castle.
