La Ruta Ornitológica “Entre Dhesas y Cultivos” discurre por los términos municipales de La Nava de Santiago, donde da comienzo, La Roa de La Sierra y Villar del Rey, donde termina. El paisaje más representativo que recorre es la dehesa en combinación con cultivos y pastizales. Es una ruta que se puede realizar en todas las estaciones del año, aunque primavera e invierno son las más indicadas.

The Birdwatching Route “Between the Dehesas and the Arable Lands” runs between the towns of La Nava de Santiago (where it starts), La Roca de la Sierra and Villar del Rey (where it ends). The most representative landscape that one passes through is the dehesa in combination with arable land and pasture. This route can be done throughout the year, although the best times are spring and winter.

Punto de inicio: La Nava de Santiago. Nos dirigimos a Montijo por la BA100. Starting point: La Nava de Santiago. Drive towards Montijo on the BA100.

Entrada de camino a la derecha. Aparcar, caminar y otear. Dirt road on the right. Park, walk and scan the area.

Entrada de camino a la derecha. Aparcar, caminar y otear. Dirt road to the right. Park, walk and scan the area.

Embalse Los Canchales. Camino a la izquierda. Acercarse al embalse, aparcar, andar y otear. En temporada de cría está cerrado para coches el camino perimetral. Luego regresar a la carretera y gira a la derecha. Los Canchales reservoir. Dirt road to the left. Approach the reservoir, park, walk and scan the area. In the breeding season the perimeter dirt road (around the reservoir) is closed for cars. Then return to the main road and turn right.

Entrada de camino a la derecha. Aparcar, caminar unos 350 m hacia un punto elevado y otear. Dirt road to the right. Park, walk about 350 m towards a higher point and scan the area.

De regreso de Canchales, tomamos la EX214 en dirección a La Roca de La Sierra. After the visit to Canchales reservoir and once back at the roundabout, we take the EX214 towards La Roca de la Sierra.

Entrada de camino a la derecha. Aparcar, caminar y otear. Dirt road to the right. Park, walk and scan the area.

Camino a la izquierda hacia la Laguna de Murtales. El giro aquí no está permitido por lo que hay que dar la vuelta un poco más adelante. Dirt road to the left towards the Murtales Lake. The turn onto this track is not allowed, so you should make a u-turn a slightly further.

Camino a la derecha que da acceso a la Dehesa Boyal de La Roca de La Sierra. Varias visitas de interés. Dirt road to the right, access to the Communal Dehesa (wooded pasture) of La Roca de la Sierra. Several interesting options for visits.

Rotonda de entrada en La Roca de La Sierra. Seguimos recto hasta enlazar con la EX100. First roundabout of La Roca de la Sierra. Continue straight untill the EX100.

Cruce con la EX100. Giro a la izquierda en dirección Badajoz. Intersection with the EX100. Turn left towards Badajoz.

Desvio a la izquierda hacia el restaurante "El Polígono". Junction to the left, towards the restaurant "El Poligono"

Camino del Barrerón, a la derecha. Si el estado del camino lo permite recorrer unos 7 Km. Otear desde los puntos altos. Luego regresar al punto 12. Turn right onto the dirt road of "El Barrerón". If the road conditions allow, drive for about 7 km. Scan from the higher venture points. Once finished return to waypoint nº 12.

Final camino del Barrerón. Aparcar y caminar. End of "El Barrerón" dirt road. Park and scan the area.

Seguir la EX100 a la izquierda en dirección Badajoz. Turn left onto the EX100 towards Badajoz.

Desvío a la derecha. Tomar la EX214 en dirección a Villar del Rey. Junction to the right. Take the EX214 towards Villar del Rey.

Entrada a Villar del Rey. Atravesar la localidad hasta el siguiente punto. Entrance to Villar del Rey. Crosse the village untill the next waypoint.

C/Gardona. Recorrer el camino durante unos 4,5 km. Para y otea en los puntos altos. Gardona street. Follow the street and dirt road for about 4,5 km. Stop and scan at good venture points.
