Itinerary description

5th day of our trip from Figueira da Foz (Verride) to Badajoz. After having complete the Atlantic coastal part in the previous day, we took the train from Cascais do Lisboa (Cais do Sodré) station. We cycled a little bit through Lisboa downtown, and took another train from Lisboa (Santa Apolónia) station to Azambuja station.

From Azambuja we started our cycling day at 11am more or less. We firstly cycled over some channels untill we reached Tejo river. From there we headed a bit northeast in order to cross the river in Muge. Before that, we visited some traditional fisherman villages, and ran some protective water flooding walls.

Finally we crossed the Tejo (Tagus) river using the old Queen Amélia bridge, the old railway bridge. Running oposite direction, we went southwest direction Salvaterra de Magos. Before Salvaterra de Magos we had lunch in the beautifull Escaroupim river harbour.

A powerfull coffe at Salvaterra de Magos, and lets go crash the last 30 km´s of the day, running along Sorraia river irrigation channels. I really liked this particular part of the today´s route, maybe because of that there was no much filming, I (I dare to say we) was/were realling enjoying this part. I strongly reccomend to cycle in this portuguese region, a lot of Agricultural history.

Bombastic arrival to Coruche, with a nice riverside view. Loved it!
