Itinerary description
Royan - Marennes - Rochefort
Nicest stage of the whole vélodyssée, along the coast and fun with very few completely flat bits, we were tempted to cut out this bit but it's really worth doing as you get to see bunkers, the sea most of the time and then the light house of Coeur.
Some stretches arriving at Rochefort are unpaved, but without traffic and easy to cycle on, they go along an estuary with plenty of egrets and little otters called 'coypu' invasive but cute
Municipal campsite at Rochefort was best value for money, 9.80€ for 2 people. they also have 2 new velotents that were booked but were probably reasonably priced.
Definitely have to get on the bridge on the way in to Rochefort if you follow vélodyssée signs you'll get there. 2.10€ per person with bike, you might have to wait if boats are coming in or out.
