Itinerary description

Finishing a personal goal, we wanted to complete the whole portuguese Atlantic coast in our bycicles, cycling from Figueira da Foz (Verride) to Lisboa (Cascais), and from there all the way to Elvas. At least this is what we had planned.

The first part runs through the Portuguese silver coast, a geographic definition. The name comes from the silvery sun effect on the ocean waves.

This first episode will documentate the first of 4 days of our trip towards Cascais. A day filled with strong head winds where we complete 92km (57 Miles) with a total climb of 635 Mt (2083 ft).

After to take the train from our village to Coimbra, we started our journey at Verride, a small and calm train station located in the left Mondego river bank. From Verride, we followed Mondego river for a while. It´s considered the biggest Portuguese river borned in Portugal. After crossing Louriçal railway yard, we turned west to the atlantic shore, and then south all the way down to Pedrógão, Praia da Vieira, São Pedro de Moel and finally Nazaré, where we finished our 1st Stage.

At Nazaré we arrived just on time to watch a fabulous sunset, close to the famous canyon, where Garrett McNamara beated a wave record in 2011.

Nice and tiring day, but also very gratifying. Keep tunned with us for more episodes of this marvelous adventure.
