Itinerary description
I’m planning on riding “The route of caravans south” next year and would like to complete the route from Imilchil to Tangier (then travel onwards through Spain)
Unfortunately such a route hasn’t been published so I have put this together by piecing together interesting sections on Wikiloc / RidewithGPS/ Komoot etc and also from the heatmaps on those apps (+ strava), plus of course my own reading of maps and potentially interesting places / sections.
Any thoughts, comments would be most appreciated as this is still work in development. Ideally I’d like to travel on quiet roads / pistes - totally avoiding busy roads and happy for some singletrack. Plan is to ride with a gravel bike + camping gear, self supported.

Hello,
I'm planning to ride next month in the Middle Atlas from Tanger. I'm interested about your trace, have you rode it now ? Where did you get inspired to make the track ?
Thank you !
Sébastien
Hello, I made ROC some years ago and now I want to go to Ceuta or Tanger by Fes. I read about this route drafted from north of Imilchil to Tangier . Did you made this Route?
I´m preparing my gpx to ride in May.
I want to avoid the majority of tarmac
Thanks
Ricardo
Not yet.
I live in Madrid. I decided to travel to morocco some days ago. I'll be there the first days of april, probably for a week of riding before joining a friend in Fes. I'm preparing now the bike and all the stuff I need. Just bought a map of the country.
Here is the main idea : Tanger - Chefchaouen - Rhafsai - Taza - Midelt - Ifrane - Meknes - Fes
All comments will surely be appreciated :-)
Hi Abadam79, I live in Lisbon, we are almost neighbours :-)
Have a nice trip there. Are you going in bikepacking?
If you follow this track, give me some tips because I´m mixing a lot of tracks including this. I want to go from Tanger to Imilchil off road.
I will leave you my email because it´s easy for us to talk

Hello - thanks for your comments — I have not ridden this yet but hope to do so next year. I pieced it together from tracks I found on internet plus careful looking at google earth etc. I would amend this to go to /from Tangier Med port as I understand that there’s a lot less hassle there!
I’ve tried to avoid tarmac as much as possible
Hi Nutmeg67b,
Thanks for the track. It´s a good way to start.
I have many and I´m trying to decide the best option
Ricardo
HI Ricardo, thanks ever so much. If you could share any insights or route options you’ve found I’d really appreciate it! all the best.
Hi, abadam 79 is doing the majority of the route.
I don´t know if I can do it this year.
