Chile/Argentina 2024-Carretera Austral-etapa 06-Villa Santa Lucia-La Junta

After a healthy breakfast and after collecting our belongings we left Villa Santa Lucía. We hit the road eager to explore new horizons. The landscapes that unfold before us are a feast for the senses, with dense forests of lengas, coihues, ñires and other trees typical of the southern region. The rivers, mighty and crystalline, invite us to stop and contemplate their beauty, while the abundant wildlife observes us with curiosity, especially the birds that allow us to approach them without fear of their escape.
The route takes us through continuous ups and downs, challenging our legs and our endurance, but feeding our thirst for adventure with each pedal stroke. Following the R7 towards the south, we stay close to the Frío River, enjoying the good asphalt and the absence of large slopes that allow us to move forward with fluidity and speed.
We continue our trip next to the majestic Palena River, whose waters roar strongly beside us, reminding us of the magnitude of the nature that surrounds us. Finally, we arrive at the town of La Junta, a meeting point between rivers and mountains, where the adventurous spirit mixes with the hospitality of its inhabitants and the mystery of its landscapes.
Its name comes from the union of the two main rivers in the area, the Rosselot and the Palena.
Located in the commune of Los Cisnes, its first settlers began to arrive at the end of the 1930s. However, it was not until 1963 that La Junta was founded as a town.
Today, it is one of the most populated places in the north of the Aysén Region, with about 1,300 people and has all the necessary services for a pleasant stay.

Después de un saludable desayuno y tras recoger nuestros enseres salimos de Villa Santa Lucía. Nos lanzamos a la carretera con ansias de explorar nuevos horizontes. Los paisajes que se despliegan ante nosotros son un festín para los sentidos, con bosques densos de lengas, coihues, ñires y otros árboles típicos de la región austral. Los ríos, caudalosos y cristalinos, nos invitan a detenernos a contemplar su belleza, mientras que la abundante vida silvestre nos observa con curiosidad, especialmente las aves que nos permiten acercarnos sin temor a su huida.
La ruta nos conduce a través de continuas subidas y bajadas, desafiando nuestras piernas y nuestra resistencia, pero alimentando nuestra sed de aventura con cada pedalada. Siguiendo la R7 hacia el sur, nos mantenemos pegados al río Frío, disfrutando del buen asfalto y la ausencia de grandes desniveles que nos permiten avanzar con fluidez y velocidad.
Continuamos nuestro viaje junto al majestuoso río Palena, cuyas aguas rugen con fuerza a nuestro lado, recordándonos la magnitud de la naturaleza que nos rodea. Finalmente, llegamos a la población de La Junta, un punto de encuentro entre los ríos y las montañas, donde el espíritu aventurero se mezcla con la hospitalidad de sus habitantes y el misterio de sus paisajes
Su nombre nace de la unión de los dos principales ríos de la zona, el Rosselot y el Palena.
Ubicada en la comuna de los Cisnes, sus primeros colonos comenzaron a llegar a finales de la década del 30. Sin embargo, no fue hasta 1963 que La Junta fue fundada como poblado.
Hoy por hoy, es uno de los sitios más poblados del norte de la Región de Aysén, con cerca de 1.300 personas y cuenta con todos los servicios necesarios para una estancia placentera.
