Itinerary description
4 a Geòrgia i 2 a Armènia.
NOTA 1:
NOTA 2
Aproximadament hauré fet uns 60 km, i uns 8000 metres del desnivell del total, caminant i arrossegant la bicicleta. Cal anar mentalitzat, i planificar les hike-a-bike perquè siguin digeribles. I buscar la manera de gaudir-les. La majoris són per llocs molt bonics.
NOTA 3
Superrecomanable.
Waypoints
20km of hike-a-bike on an abandoned road, first through a gorge then up and up on an old track overgrown with vegetation.
An option if you want to avoid that part, go to Kvemo Nichbisi via Akhalkalaki to rejoin the track. D-Tour from the original part to this point is worth it and rideable, staying up in the mountains instead of going down to Gori.
Border Police Checkpoint - get your Pass papers here.
I get my permit all the way to Omalo. Very straightforward.
Chased by 6+ shepherd dogs as I started the descent
The experience is scaring. The time between they surround me and the shepherd arrives it was mentally thought. You have to thing that those dogs are doing their job, and spotting the shepherd and get noticed to them, the best strategy for me. At the end, I had the he feeling that those shepherd dogs do not wanted to bite me. Just to stop me. And that feeling helps me to better deal those encounters during the trip.

Chased by 6+ shepherd dogs on my way down to the lake
Clean water (august 2022)
D-Tour to visit Iago's winery (book in advance)
"For the Love of Wine" by Alice Feiring is a great introduction to Georgia natural wines movement. I visited Iago back in 2012, I was wondering how he has done in 10 years. o I visited again this time, 2022.
D-tour to visit Pankisi Gorge, where Kists, people with Chechen ancestors and mainly muslims live.
"All Lara's wars" by Polish journalist Wojciech Jagielski, is a great book to learn about their recent past.
Dilijan is worth a stop. Guesthouses, big supermarkets and some Great restaurants
2km from here
Even If in the government website it says that foreigners are allowed to cross. They do not allow me to do it.
So I choose the closest one and I join the Armènia part of the Caucasus Crossing in Alaverdi instead of Privolnoye as I had planned. https://migration.commission.ge/index.php?article_id=152&clang=1
Good swimming spot for the hot midday sun
Good swimming spot, for the hot midday sun.
Hike-a-bike All pass both sides.
I quit official track here, to stay on the hills instead of going down to Gori
Great scenery and beautiful ride up to the next info point where and scape to the hard section is easy
Khevsuretis people Land
"Caucasian Paths: KHEVSURETI" edited by Polish Aid in 2012, is a good introduction to the customs of the Khevsurs.
River crossing: choose carefully the crossing point
bridge destroyed as per 2022
Sairme Pass
They charge me 4000AMD for exiting the nature reserve
They only expect tourist from the main entrance to the reserve, so it takes a while to figure it out how much to charge me.

Gracias por compartir la ruta. Tienes los tracks por días?
Cuantas horas pedaleabas al día?
Saludos!

En el waypoint "20km of hike-a-bike on an abandoned road, first through a gorge then up and up on an old track overgrown with vegetation." haces un comentario de que si lo volvieras a repetir irías por el track original, a Kvemo Nichbisi via Akhalkalaki.
Satisfecho.
Pero no la voy a repetir ;-)
Genial. Gracias por las respuestas. Me saltaré esa parte y seguiré la ruta original.
