Camino Santiago - Astorga to Ponferrada - Day 10

In this video we will take you through the day 6 to the day 10, from Belorado to Molinaseca (Ponferrada). The days in video are wrong, they are always plus 1 day.

Right after Belorado, we started to climb up to Montes de Oca, Oca Montains, deffinately one of my favourite parts of the camino, once we did really enjoyed stuff like ridding through the snow, camping in a lush alpine forest with a night fire etc.

Oca Montains were also very positive for me, because it was the last day being two. In the next day Álvaro joined us in Burgos, which made 3 of us. Álvaro is a really nice and funny guy, but at the time a very unexperient biker, which overloaded my friend António, changing a little bit the overall attitude for the following days. No worries, António and me are still good friends and we expect to perform future trips, it was just a small temporary bummer.

At the very first morning being 3, at Hornillos del Camino, we had the second flat tire of the entire trip (mine was the first one, before Pamplona). Álvaro´s rental bike was not really in good condition, and we had to improvise a little bit, which took us a considerable amount of daylight time.

After that bummer, we crossed a huge field of frozen mud, which became our bikes a bit heavier than the normal, and also preventing our bikes to run at all.

In that though day, in order to keep our schedule, we were forced to pedal during the night. Sometimes the good things comes from the bad ones, and the truth is, I REALLY enjoyed peddaling throught the night at Castilla y León fields, an unforgetable experience for me, not sure for Álvaro =D

Next day, to compensate the first one, it was really fluid, due to the good weather and the flatness of the terrain.

From Mansilla de las Mulas to Astorga, we took severall rain showers, specially during the morning, which hidded from us the full beauty of the Órbigos bridge. The evening was filled with an evening walking through the Xmas market at Astorga, advantages of doing the Camino during Winter.

Next day, right after leaving Astorga, we started smoothly the climb to the highest point of the Camino, not before passing splendorous villages like Santa Catalina de Somoza, and Rabanal del Camino. Cruz de Fierro (in leonese old language) was so the highest point, antecipating a SICK descending towards Molinaseca, where due to the adrenaline of the Bajada we shared some joky group moments.
