Itinerary description
A signposted bike ride around the town of Ypres. Taking in the many cemeteries, memorials and battlefield locations of this sad episode of history.
The route is signposted clockwise, yet I decided to go the other way round. Doing this I had to check at every junction because the signs were facing the other way. In addition, there are other signposted bike rides that intersect this route, so be careful to not follow the wrong route.
The route begins in the centre of Ypres, yet I picked it up from my campsite near the Hooghe Crater.
In addition, the ride goes through the town of Langemark to reach the German cemetery. Then returns back to Langemark the same way, to reach the railway cycle path. I didn't realise this and carried on out the other side for about a kilometre before correcting myself.
As always, take plenty of water and take care on the busier roads.
