This route is for bikes prepared for unsealed roads.
This route starts at Windsor, accessible by train. There are lots of pub stops on the way that serve food and cold beer - Wiseman's Ferry, St Albans, Wollombi, Paxton and finally fish and chips at Newcastle before the train trip back to Sydney. From Lower Portland you can also ride on the south side of the river. This section to Wiseman's is slightly longer, but lacks the hill and is sealed. Take your togs for a swim in the river.
I haven't yet done the whole track, but only part (Sydney to Gloucester). There is at campsite at Mogo Creek (around km 91) with a water tank - but it might not be full. The camping fee is $10, quoting from the NSWNPWS website.
