WCRVBB-21-ELBERADWEG - STAGE 06 -Magdeburg-Worlitz 110 km

STAGE DESCRIPTION
We start the stage crossing the beautiful city of Magdeburg. We pass throug the river parks, with spledid views of the double towered cathedral. Then we enter the very center with the Rathaus and Johanen Kirche. After few meters, we arrive at Hundertwasser, an impressive pink building with many irregular form walls and windows. We are now in Breiter Weg, the vively main street with trams and all the comercial center of the city.

The visit of the Domplatz and the Cathedral completes the most interestings parts of the city.
We leave the city crossing once more the Elber river over a peatonal bridge, and we see the typical skyline of the city with its impressive Cathedral.

We now ride on the northern side of the river, and we cycle in quite roads or cycle paths on the dam. We pass Stoneage Village museum, where we can visit recreated prehistoric houses and Dornburn Palace, very once beaufitul but now in advanced decadence.

After passing Walternienburg  caste and confirming that all that plains were flooded in last river level growth, we reach the first cyclist church of the route. They are church consagrated to the cyclists, with a little refuge, always open, information for the bikers and sometimes with a little museum of photos and maps or little objects related to the bikes.

After few kilometers, we have to cross the river once more with a ferry (with continous ferries). Next stop is Dessau, an interesting city because it was the origin of the architectural movement of Bauhaus. We can visit the museum and many buildings of this former XX century style.

In Dessau you visit the Georgean Palace and Park, very beautiful, and all the center of the modern city, with the Rathaus square as main atraction. We leave the city and cross the Luisium Palace and Park, with a lake and many paths through a impressive forest.
After that, we join the elberadweg once more and head quickly to Worlitz. We found Diana temple and many sculptures in the way, a little show of what we will see tomorrow in Worlitz.

Finally we reach the beautiful city of Worlitz.

DESTINATION POINT
Worlitz is a very beautiful city specially for the parks around the lake (Worlitzer park). We stayed in a b&b but there are many options to spend the night. And there are good restaurants to have dinner. But beware about the kitchen opening times. If there are no customers, they can close very early.
In Worlitz you can visit the St Petri Church, the Worlitz Castle (Schloss), the Jewish Sinagogue and all the sourroundings of the lake. Its curious the concerts organizated in summer over boats next to the lake.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
You can avoid the center of Dessau, following straigth the Elberadweg signals. In the first part, there are a pair of ferrys to cross the other side of the river and do the way a bit shorter.
