Itinerary description

The complete crossing of the Alps ridge started for me directly from home in Turin.

This means that in order to have the possibility to run the complete crossing of the Alps, I had to cycle to the start point: Menton at the sea side.

The path I followed crossed the Po Valley passing from Stupinigi where it is possible to look at the magnificent hunting palace of the king of Italy, from Saluzzo, an ancient important town during the XVI and XVII centuries where now there is one of the most famous specialistic music school and from other nice villages like Busca, the big town of Cuneo and Borgo San Dalmazzo.

At Borgo San Dalmazzo the road startes ascending and enters in the Vermenagna Valley, passing the villages of Robilante, Roccavione, Vernante and Limone; than it starts climbing the Tenda Pass (1890 m) crossing the village of Limonetto. Some old buildings and fortifications can be observed belong the road.

Note: the Tenda tunnel is still close due to big flood occured in '2020.

At Tenda pass I crossed the border between Italy and France, and I descend in the Roya Valley belong the so called " 50 turns" road, a white road built in XVIII century with a lot of "Lacet".

Following the Roja Valley I passed Tenda and other nice ancient villages until I reached the sea in Ventimiglia and then, turining to west, I reached the camping site in Latte.
