Sztárai Mihály Greenway

The Sztárai Mihaly Greenway starts from Sellye and goes through the following villages: Sellye – Sósvertike – Drávaiványi – Drávasztára – Révfalu (Drávakeresztúr) – Felsőszentmárton – Szentborbás – Lakócsa – Drávafok – Markóc – Bogdása – Sellye. The name of this greenway comes from one of the first Hungarian vanguardists of the Reform, who evangelizated the villages throughout the Drava, in both Hungarian and Croatian language.
According to tradition 120 Protestant church founded both sides of the river, later the first Reformed Church Body, biscop of Diocese was elected in Duna-Mellék.
Immediately from Sellye is a little village, we head toward to Sósvertike. After the 8 kms detour we continue toward to Drávaiványi, where we can see one of the most beautiful painted wood-paneled church in Ormánság. From Drávaiványi we arrived to Drávasztára where croats inhabited. Starin, as the croats say, it waiting us with local restaurants and smithy. We can turn off from Drávasztára to Ormányköz Greenway to Zaláta. Let’s coutinue our route on the Sztárai Mihály Greenway! Arriving to Dráva-charging immediately we can archieve to Révfalu( Duna-Dráva National Park) situated in Korcsina- land. The former Croatian nationality, but by the millenium in the died township, now renew farmhouses, weekend house- tax holiday village character. From the charging route we can get to Drávakeresztúr; if we follow the asphalt road , we arrive to Felsőszentmárton. In the also Croatian village from the last century a lot of small houses are still standing, we can also walk until the end of Dráva it name is Mrtvica.
From Felsőszemmárton going further we are crossing to Somogy county and we arrived to Szentborbás. In Szentborbás built canoe harbor (the base tour of national park) and the amazing panorama waiting for u sin the Duna-land. Consider this 2 kilometer detur to do.. The next village is Lakócsa, where we can meet with a croat national traditions. Following Lakócsa- we arrived to Baranya county.
- We arriveing to Drávafok, where Fodor-house ’ building waiting for visitor. After a few kilometer, in Bogdása we can see a local peasant antiques collection. In the village Szatyor Győző is working, who’ s carvings can be found around Ormánság. It’s standing, a real “ormón” – the oldest building of landscape: the medieval Roman Catholic Church. From Bogdása getting back to Sellye. We recommend, that you stay one more day in the settlement, and visit the city’s monuments (Draskovich-kastély and arburetum , Kiss Géza Museum, reformed ecclesiastical collection, thermal water out-door swimming-pool, fishing lake of Sellye-gürü etc.) and the Okorvidék Greenway too!
