Itinerary description
Tough slog up the steep, pitted gravel road from Sombrio Beach to Highway 14. About 20k takes you to Port Renfrew, your last chance to fuel up before the 60k or so push to Lake Cowichan. Lizard Lake makes a nice stop before the rest of the remote trip. Some steep sections, use caution around the numerous logging trucks. I had one roar up behind and pass me just as I about to cross a 1 lane, no rail bridge. Good thing I heard him coming and not slowing and pulled over a few feet before riding onto the bridge deck.
