I have made the track adapting the route that Jeff Tell did in 2010 on a bicycle, trying to follow the roads and places that appear in the film. All credit to him.
The route begins in Laurens, Iowa, at the home of the real Alvin Straight, who made this journey on his lawnmower in 1994 to see his sick brother, a journey that took him six weeks. It ends up roughly where his brother's house appears to have been as it appears in the 1999 movie that tells of his little-great epic.
