This time we will visit the west coast of Florida from Bonita Springs in Lee County to Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva Beach. At 80 miles round trip, just halfway between Tampa and Miami, route # 36 travels between islands, cays, bridges and roads over the sea visiting some of the most recognized tourist destinations worldwide in the last 50 years. like Sanibel Island itself. In addition to the paradisiacal beaches and the multiple resorts or holiday complexes, we will have the opportunity to discover nature in the various reserves and wildlife refuges we will pass through, such as the Carl E. Johnson State Park Lovers Key or the JN "Ding" Darling. National Wildlife Refuge. In general, this is an area in which there is always a lot of movement of people because away from the hustle and bustle of other cities, snowbirds (the northerners fleeing the cold, especially retired) spend winters in the area.
