In Haan-dan, monarchy engineers burning in the fountain of railway construction dreamed a small railway to Istria. The narrow-gauge railway was linked to Trieste by Poreč, the official Parenzaner Bahn train was called Parenzana by the Italians, the Croatians and Slovenians were named Porečanka, Istranka or Istrijanka. From Trieste, along the Slovenian coast (Koper, Izola, Strunjan, Portorož), the train was thrown into today's Croatia, then turned to the interior of Istria at Savudri, and arrived in Poreč with the touch of Buje, Grožnjan, Motovun. On the 123-km-long route, the train "spun" at an average speed of 25 km / h, so the journey time was 7 hours. Legend has it that passengers dropped off the train next to the orchard, if they were hungry, and because the wagons were not equipped with toilets, they were doing things on the way. The locals loved Parenzana, many of them transported their produce or fish to the Trieste market. The train operated between 1902 and 1935, but the great world crisis and the appearance of cars and buses sealed its fate. The locomotives and wagons were taken away by the Italians, the rails were disassembled. But the landmarks of the railway are still visible today, tunnels, viaducts, and embankments remember the good old days. Today, the mountain bike race, known as the Parenzana Marathon, is organized on the railway track. The exhibition dedicated to the small railway is in Isola, Slovenia.
