Itinerary description
The Ormányköz Greenway starts from Vajszló, and goes through these villages: Vajszló-Hirics-Vejti-Piskó-Zaláta-Kemse-Lúzsok-Vajszló.
Starting from Vajszló, you can cycle through a beautiful forest part, and turn to Hirics. From Hirics you can turn back to the asphalt road, until the turning point, or in a dry weather, through the mud road Vejti-Lúzsok, to Vejti. Once arrived in Vejti, you discover the characteristical „wide street village”, with the former channel, starting from Drava river. You can see also the Reformed church, And in Daróczihalma, the Catholic church, as well as some peasant houses which nowadays are monuments. If you choose the longer route, you can cycle near the lake Nagyhíd, to Révtisztás, at the Drava shore. (Danube-Drava National Park). On the Croatian side of Drava river lies the Moslavina Podravska village. Between Piskó and Zaláta, surrounded by grazing-lands, is the Zehipuszta, once a good village, nowadays in ruins, and the former border guard near Háromfa. Next to Piskóat the south side is the Verság lake, and from Zaláta, trough the line of former railway which lead to Croatia, you can see the remanintg of the ancient Drava. You can see the the church with the coffer-ceiling from Zaláta. The village holds many monuments: the classical Reformed parochy, the building of the former school, in old style, peasant houses, kitchen with „free chimney”, raised grainholders. At one of the smallest villages from Ormánság, trough trees and pergolas in Kemse, you will arrive to Lúzsok. Here you can meet a basket waving master, where you can buy souvenirs from. All the visited villages show one fact which they have in common: the system of organisation: where once the land was flooded by water, after the Drava's regulation, this way of organisation had a major role for the animals' feeding and watching.
