A very pleasant and nice stretch of the Otago Central Rail Trail, which leaves the village of Omakau and runs through large fields and arid landscapes, stopping at the old Lauder railway station linking the towns of Dunedin-Alexandra in time gold extraction
The gorges are highly recommended to visit with 2 tunnels (better take lots) and iron bridges that cross the Manuherikia River.
On return we have also visited the people of Ophir full of ancient buildings.
