Okorvidék Greenway

Okorvidék is the microregion located in northwestern part of Ormánság, between the Okor river and the Black river. The okorvidék's route: Sellye, Csányoszró, Nagycsány, Besence, Gilvánfa, Magyarmecske, Gyöngyfa, Sumony, Okorág, Mónosokor and Kákics(Marócsa). The route, might be shortened: from the bridge in Besence, to the left side of the Okor river, through Mónosokor direction to Okorág, you will find a dirt road in the forest.

Csányoszró is the „capital” of the weavers in Ormánság, in the past, here was a weaving work. The lain cemetery on the „raised” field is something very specific. At the tennis ground in Besence, we can play tennis a little bit with the local people. Don't miss the home made cheese, cottage cheese and the yoghurt from the cheese small factory, in Gyöngyfa!

In Sumony is situated one of the gratest lakes from Dél-Dunántúl region. There, the „Hungarian Association for Bird Studying” organises bird-ringing camps. The lakes with fishes from Okorág, the silence of the dead village of Mónosokor and the sheep flock waits for the „rover” tourists. At Kákics, you can see the house of Géza Kiss, ethnographic researcher and reformed priest, as well as his work. At the Géza Kiss museum from Sellye, we can discover the ethnographical „treasures”. You can relax at a walk in the „arboretum” park, at the Draskovich castle, and after, the swimming pool with termal water offers the proper relaxation at the end of the bike tour.

If you prefere the adventures on water, you can paddle the canoe from Okorág: to Okor river, later on, on the Black river, you can see the small villages of Ormánság, and to admire the beautiness of the nature.
