Itinerary description

The second leg of our Manali - Leh was mainly dedicated to crossing the Rothang La (3978 m).
The south side of the Rothang La has a road in good conditions with asphalt in the most parts of the path; contrariwise the descend on the north side has an awful dirty road.
Starting from the bridge on the Chenab river at Khoksar, the road becomes better, again with asphalt, .
We stopped in a very good Daba (for the dinner) in Ghondhla that offered us a gas tank storage as sleeping room.

Rothang La (3978 m)

Rothang La is described as one of the mountain pass that has the biggest climatic and scenario differences between its two sides. The pass is not well defined because there is a long flat area characterized by grass; the only signal at the pass are the Prayer flags.
