Mallorca: PortoCristo - Can Picafort

In Portocristo nemen we achter de haven de Carretera de les Coves, die ons naar de Coves del Drach brengt. Op het rondpunt nabij de grotten volgen we het rode fietspad aan de linkerkant van de Ma-4014 richting Santanyi. Na de volgende rotonde gaan we nog 2km rechtdoor op de Ma-4014, dan gaat het rechtsaf in de zeer landelijke Cami Vistalegre.
Aan de T-splitsing links de Carrer de Martin in, aan de splitsing 2 km verder rechts volgen, rechtdoor aan de driesprong en 100m verder het smalle wegeltje nemen, de Camí de Rafal Pudent. Verderop links de asfaltweg volgen tot aan de T-splitsing met de windmolen Moli d'en Sopa. We volgen de zeer drukke Ma4020 anderhalve kilometer naar links tot we rechtsaf richting "Camp de Futbol" kunnen nemen. Aan de T-splitsing links tot we de ringweg rond Manacor bereiken. Even naar rechts (fietspad) tot aan het rondpunt waar we richting "Centre" volgen voor een bezoek aan Manacor, de tweede grootste stad van Mallorca.
Van aan de kathedraal op de Plaça del Rector Rubi keren we langs dezelfde weg terug naar de ringweg, waar we linksaf naar de volgende rotonde fietsen. Rechtsaf richting Cala Rajada. Na een kilometer nemen we aan de volgende rotonde de kleine Cami de Son Barbi en volgen die linksaf naast fabrieksmuur.
Stevig klimmend volgen we deze weg tot waar de Camí de Son Sellart rechtsaf door de velden gaat. We dalen af tot aan de Ma-3322, die we 400m naar links volgen. Rechtsaf en onmiddelijk daarna aan de splitsing links de Camí de Son Ramon in. Die brenggt ons naar de Ma-3321 die we naar rechts de vallei in volgen.
De smalle asfaltweg begin al snel omhoog te slingeren en brengt ons in een stevige klim van 2 kilometer over het hoogste punt van het traject. Zodra we de vrij drukke Ma-3330 bereiken, gaan we linksaf en beginnen al snel aan de afdaling naar Petra, waar we even kunnen bekomen van de forse klim en afdaling.
We verlaten het stadje langs de Carrer Gerreries en nemen de landelijke Cami de Son Reixach en Carrer Sol naar Ariany. Via de drukke Ma-3340 en verderop rechtsaf via de Camí Vell de Maria rijden we dan naar Santa Margalida.. We volgen even de Ma-3410 naar rechts, maar kiezen al na enkele honderden meters de rustige Ma-3412 over Es Clavet naar Son Morro.
Verderop komen we voorbij een steengroeve en sluiten linksaf aan op de Ma3410 naar het stadje Can Picafort waar we in de Passeig Colon ons hotel bereiken.
Gefietst op 28/05/2014 - Vermits de track ook onverharde of minder goede wegen volgt, is deze route is niet geschikt voor racefietsen!

In Porto Cristo take at the port the Carretera de les Coves, which leads to the Coves del Drach. At the roundabout near the caves follow the red bicycle path on the left side of the Ma-4014 towards Santanyi. After the roundabout drive 2km straight on the Ma-4014, then right into the very rural Cami Vistalegre.
At the T-junction turn left onto Carrer de Martin. At the junction 2 km further on, take the right track straight on to the triple crossing and 100m further the small path Camí de Rafal Pudent. Further left and follow the paved road to the T-junction with the windmill "Moli d'en Sopa". Follow the very busy Ma4020 a kilometer to the left until you can go right towards "Camp de Futbol".
At the T-junction left until you reach the ring road around Manacor. To the right (cycle path) until the roundabout where you can follow "Centre" to Manacor, the second largest city of Mallorca.
From the Cathedral in the Plaza del Rector Rubi, return along the same route back to the ring road, where you turn left to the next roundabout. Turn right towards Cala Rajada. After one kilometer at the next roundabout, take the small Cami de Son Barbi and follow left of the factorywall.
Firmly going up follow this road to where the Cami de Son Sellart goes right across the fields. Descend to the Ma-3322, go left for 400m and turn right and immediately left at the junction of the Cami de Son Ramon, which brings us to the Ma-3321 that we follow to the right along the valley.
The narrow asphalt road soon starts to swing upwards and takes us in a steep climb of 2 kilometers over the highest point of the route. Once at the rather busy Ma-3330, turn left and pretty soon begins the descent to Petra, a good place to recover from the steep climb and descent.
Leave the town along the Carrer Gerreries and take the rural Cami de Son Reixach and Carrer Sol to Ariany. Via the busy Ma-3340 and the Cami Vell de Maria, drive to Santa Margalida. You follow here the Ma-3410 to the right, but after a few hundred meters take the quite Ma-3412 Es Clavet to Son Morro. Further on you pass a quarry and turn left on to the Ma3410 to the town of Can Picafort, where we reach our hotel in the Paseo Colon. Cycled on 28/05/2014 - As this track also follows poor or even unpaved roads, it is not very suited for racing bikes!
