Itinerary description
This is as scenic as is gets on a sunny day. The 5 lakes are
Lungerersee
Sarnersee
Alpnachersee
Vierwaldstättersee (Lake of Luzern)
Zugersee
Kantons: Mostly Obwalden (tiny bit of Nidwalden), Luzern (tiny bit of Schwzy) and Zug
Plenty of public transport if you need to abort.
Towns: Lungern, Giswil, Sarnen, Kägiswil, Alpnach, Hergiswil, Horw, Luzern, Meggen, Merlisachen, Küssnacht am Rigi, Rich, Buonas, Cham, Zug.
Done in 3.15 h with brompton foldable
There is a small unsuccessful deviation attempt to see a 6 th lake, the Wichelsee
Also, when you get to Luzern it is nicer to follow the marked bike path that trails the lake-side (route 9 and 3). It may be a little hillier but less traffic than cutting across town as I did.
