October 10, 1998: The Municipality of Saint-Paul-du-Nord - Sault-au-Mouton becomes the municipality of Longue-Rive.
Longue-Rive was born from the merger of two villages, Sault-au-Mouton and Saint-Paul du Nord. In the middle of the nineteenth century, Saint-Paul du Nord (then known as Baie-des-Mille-Vaches) lived on agriculture. A church was built there in 1901. The population west of the village, on the banks of the Sault-au-Mouton River, lives on logging, the river used for logging. A mill is built at the foot of the falls.
In 1947, the territory of Sault-au-Mouton separated from Saint-Paul du Nord and the municipality of Sault-au-Mouton was created. In 1997, the population of the two villages voted mainly for a merger. The new name is adopted shortly before the year 2000.
Longue-Rive is part of the electoral district of Montmorency-Charlevoix-Haute-Côte-Nord in the House of Commons of Canada and the riding of René-Lévesque at the National Assembly of Quebec.

Forestville is a city in Quebec, Canada, in the Regional County Municipality of La Haute-Côte-Nord, in the Côte-Nord administrative region. The municipality is a member of the Federation of Relay Villages of Quebec.
. May 4, 1944: Erection of the town of Forestville.
The city of Forestville was founded in 1837, but it was only on May 1, 1844 that incorporation became official. First known as Sault-aux-Cochons, it was renamed Forestville in honor of Grant W. Forrest, manager of the first sawmill at the mouth of the Sault aux Cochons River in 1845.
The motto of the city is Per Sylvam, which means by our forests. Indeed, Forestville exists largely because of the exploitation of the forests of the Haute-Côte-Nord and its future is still largely dependent on it.
Forestville is a relatively young city but with a past full of history. Archaeological excavations have confirmed the presence of Amerindians on the territory (we can admire some artifacts at the Museum of Little Anglican). The Côte-Nord region, on the other hand, was very little visited by Europeans since it was used almost exclusively for the fur trade.
Pioneers settle for the first time around 1845. The main attraction being the forest, the activity sought was sawing wood. Only a dozen families populate the place.
It was in 1870 that "Forrest-ville" took a second wind. The sawmill Price is active and gives employment to 21 families.
With the advent of new technologies, sawing and production techniques are improved. The future is now turning to the pulp and paper industry. The company Price goes bankrupt. This is Anglo-Canadian Pulp & Paper Mills ltd. which makes Forestville reborn. She is building an ultra-modern paper mill in the Quebec City area. As this production requires large quantities of wood, the company buys the concessions for the Forestvillois territory. We begin construction of temporary buildings and workers begin to settle but it is in 1942 that the real constructions begin. Several infrastructures, still present today, appear. Forestville is developing and the first elections are scheduled for the "first legal day of February 1947".
During the summer season, the city is connected by a ferry service to Rimouski on the south shore of the St. Lawrence since 19962. The service is operated by CNM Evolution catamaran which connects the two cities in 55 min2.
Recently, the Town of Forestville has been appointed as a relay village to serve various services including Gasoline, Catering, Accommodation, Tourist Information, etc.
