Itinerary description
Lake Cowichan is the western terminus of the TransCanada Trail which can take you right to the ferry terminal @ Crofton. I rode on the north side of the Cowichan River Valley as it steered me to the coast and was supposed to be in better shape than the south trail. I veered off the TCT for a stop @ Stolz Day use area (long steep decline!) which was scenic and quiet. Rather than backtrack up the hill to the TCT, I took the quiet country roads into Duncan where I hooked up with a short rural section of the TCT followed by a highway shoulder section into Crofton. Ferry into Vesuvius Bay on Saltspring was quick and efficient. Camped @ Garden Faire campground, walking distance from Ganges and supper
