Departure is from Pazin. The route winds along a plateau that occupies the so-called white Istria, a land that for centuries has been inhabited by shepherds, charcoal burners, smugglers, and which today is in a state of semi-abandonment. We cross the area called Ciceria among the woods, mountains and valleys, enjoying
exceptional views of the peaks of the legendary Istrian Alpine Path between ridge meadows, sinkholes, scrublands and beech forests and bare rock, now covered by meadows or vegetation of thorny shrubs and aromatic herbs; every now and again
some needle-leaf groves; there are few roads, generally just one
lane, and few vehicles; no scattered houses or cultivated fields; few villages
semi-deserts scattered across the territory... and silence.
Long climbs and endless descents and we return to Muggia where this holiday ends.
