Itinerary description
Starting at 2900m and increasing to 3700m at the heighest point.
Roads from Ipiales to Tulcan are well paved and generally without large amount of traffic (most cars/trucks use the panamerican highway).
Using the main road passing through Tulcan, come to the edge of the city and take a right before rejoining the Panamerican.
It is a dirt road, with occasional gravel. The elevation is gradual until 3300m, where there is a sharp incline to the Nature reserve. During this incline the road deteriorates slightly.
After the nature reserve, the road improves slightly and is continuously downhill until El Angel. In the South of El Angel is Little Andes Hostel, for $5 a night
