Itinerary description
First half of this track is gravel. Mostly good.
Spectacular landscape with glaciers on both hands. The best part of this route is for sure from Husefell to Thingvellir. Very low traffic (almost none). But after Thingvellir, the traffic is both heavier and faster. Climb is some but not very steep. Few rivers are on the way with fresh drinking water (near beginning and the end). Both Husafell and Thingvellir are accessable by bus from Reykjavik. Note: On the way between Husafell and Thingvellir (63km) is nothing but wilderness. Plan your gear and food accordingly. But don’t worry, there are no wild animals in Iceland to worry about. There are no snakes, bears, wolfs, scorpions or other “bad” animals to harm you.
I would rate this very easy, at leas from Husafell to Thingvellir. After Thinvellir Moderate with the heavier traffic.
