From Nova Gorica, the nerve center of the tourist and mountain activity of the Julian Alps, we went to his Siamese sister Gorizia, dressed in a genuinely Italian charm, to take up the reverse the way we started 10 days before. We reunited with the Soça (sorry, Isonzo) and the idea is to accompany it to its mouth in the Adriatic Sea, near Monfalcone.
We stop and rest in the closest thing to a home we have had these days. Alicia and Titian receive us affectionately at the Bed & Breaksfast that they run in Turriaco and, without panniers, we take a little road and then leave for Marina Julia, along the roads parallel to the Isonzo. Even though it is already low and flowing towards its mouth, it keeps its enigmatic blue-green color until it dies in the leaden gray of the Adriatic Sea, our particular "pink lake" of this adventure. We take the well-deserved but short swim (the water is freezing!) On the stony beach of Marina Julia and return to Turriaco parallel to the navigable channel of the Isonzo, blue-green again. There is fatigue and desire to leave the bikes parked for a season, yes. But the pain to leave, who knows if forever, these beautiful lands loaded with history is taking over our punished bodies. This has been everything, I hope you enjoyed it as we have done. Jug and pedal !!!
