We leave Sighisoara in a southerly direction. We spent, during our tour, half a dozen towns that are stretched glued to the edges of the road. They are very poor nuclei. Apold has an interesting fortified church, secluded among the trees. The slopes are soft. The largest one is between Barcut and Fagaras, and it is not paved, resulting in a very nice subidilla between the trees.
Fagaras is a fairly large population (more than 35,000 h), with all services and a great fortress (with a water pit), one of the largest and best preserved in Transylvania, and which was a prison during the period of Communist dictatorship. It also emphasizes in this population its orthodox temple.
