Itinerary description
Bike ride along Hel penisula in north Poland.
Route follows the main local road along the whole penisula, nr 216. It passes through all the villages: Chałupy, Kuźnica, Jastarnia and Jurata, before reaching the town of Hel on the end of penisula. Most of time, road goes closer to the bay rather than the sea, offering views to south bay, full of windsurfers at that time of the year.
Before 30y, the whole penisula was a military area, not open for public. Later, tourism started to delevop in all villages until Jurata, with rest of penisula still used as military base. About 15y ago, also Hel town area was openned and now the penisula is experiencing touristic boom, offering unique location and perfect windsurfing conditions on the bay side.
Return done with same road. Level easy as the route is completely flat and without any difficulties.
